University-wide Navigation

Dear Students,

As we enter the winter season, it is important that all UK faculty, staff, and students are familiar with the university's policy and procedures for dealing with severe weather conditions. The safety of our students, employees, patients, and visitors in times of severe weather is of the utmost importance to the University.

UK Alert, the emergency notification system, will be activated in times of University closings, delays, and early dismissals, and is also used in the event of other major emergencies on campus that require immediate action. This is an excellent time to review and update your UK Alert account. To review and update your account, simply log in to myUK and click the UK Alert tab in the Student Services tab.

In general, UK’s policy is to keep all offices open and classes meeting as scheduled except under

extraordinary weather conditions.

On rare occasions, it may be necessary to alter the University schedule. All faculty, staff, and students should note that announcements regarding university-wide cancelation of classes and closure of offices, or delayed openings will normally be made by 6 a.m.

Students should note that individual faculty members may also cancel classes when the University is operating. Students should check email and Canvas for notifications directly from instructors.

You can find the most up-to-date information during emergencies in the following places:
