Melissa Frederick is the Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer at the University of Kentucky. She has served in this role since 2023, after serving as the Associate Vice President for Human Resources at UK HealthCare for two years. Frederick helps us develop strategies related to employment that will help the university meet the needs of our ever-growing workforce and state.

Prior to coming to UK, Frederick helped lead human resources at the University of Virginia (UVA) Health, where she assisted in their effort to confront COVID-19. During her time at UVA, she served as a project lead on efforts to address complex issues such as rewards redesign, the transformation of how HR services were delivered, and the implementation of many HR related systems among other initiatives. 

Frederick received her bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego and her Master of Business Administration from Medaille University. Additionally, she holds a graduate certificate in Labor and Industrial Relations from Cornell University.
